Mobile music is the most promising segment of the entire music industry today. Its share on the total worldwide music revenue increases every year, and is still expected to perform better until 2010.
www.emarketer.com reveals that from 2007’s $2,076,000,000 mobile music revenue, it is expected to boost up to $3,909,000,000 on 2008. That is almost 5% increase in revenue share. From 6.5% share on total worldwide music revenue for 2007, it is expected to increase to 12% by 2008.
There are lots of factors that contributed to this phenomenal demand for mobile music.First, there are the stakeholders. These are the internet providers, the mobile content providers, the artists and their record labels and of course, the mobile music subscribers who never get tired of downloading their favorite real tone and polyphonic ringtones. Second, the mobile subscribers’ download behavior. Right now, mobile content providers are experimenting on different marketing strategies that will complement their subscription behavior and think of tactics on how they can take advantage of it. This leads us to the third aspect, content providers’ PR and advertising campaigns. Content providers continuously fight over subscribers’ attention through different marketing tools- from old school print media, radio commercials, to today’s new age online blogs and forum.
At the end of the day, it’s all about the subscribers’ preference. They know what they need, and they want to make the most out of the money they spent for downloading real tone ringtones, polyphonic ringtones, and wallpapers.
