Mobile Marketing: The Innovative Advertising Engine

January 30th, 2008 Comments(0)

Mobile Marketing can be described as “the revolutionary advertising engine” for so many reasons. In a marketer’s point of view, it is every brand’s moving ad space. For artists and music labels, it can be compared to a good recording deal. For radio and television channels, it is a gateway to entice audience interaction. As for print media, it is an opportunity to be connected with readers and subscribers. And the list goes on for other industries.

This innovative advertising instrument is composed of 3 factors: Internet, marketing, and mobile technology.

First, the Internet. The World Wide Web had a big role in this mobile marketing sensation. Social networking communities make it easier for artists and content providers to sell real tones, polyphonic ringtones, and wallpapers since it houses most percentage of mobile subscribers in the US. The Internet also hosts webinars or online seminars focusing on different mobile marketing issues like the industry’s best practices guidelines, Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) policies and principles, and tips for industry players on how to make it big in this fast rising business.

Second is marketing. Mobile Marketing pushes brand managers to “think out of the box”. Who could have thought mobile phones can be portable billboards? Yes, mobile advertisements are now considered the most effective tool for significant reasons. To start with, mobile phones nowadays are considered a necessity rather than an accessory. In fact, one study showed that for some mobile phone users, it takes 68 minutes to realize that they lost their phones, whereas it takes 26 hours to realize that they lost their wallet. Another factor, mobile phones are within target markets’ reach 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Who would not want round the clock brand visibility? Finally, mobile marketing caters to a pre-determined market segment with the following variables used: Geographic- from which region or state; Demographic- caters to specific age bracket and sometimes, gender and nationality; Behavioral- this is in relation to their mobile usage behavior and brand loyalty. All these advantages without paying for a marketing agency to conduct the studies.

Third factor would be mobile technology. With all the benefits mentioned, it’s no wonder why mobile technology is the most exploited science today. Mobile technology allows company logos to appear as wallpaper downloads to its target’s mobile phones. This creates and maintains brand awareness and brand loyalty. It also allows artists and bands to upload songs as real tone ringtones and polyphonic ringtones on mobile content providers’ websites. It brings out intimate relationship between artists and their fans since they can listen to their favorite songs anytime, anywhere they want. All they have to do is download the ringtones or wallpapers of their favorite artist to their mobile phones.

With endless advantages and benefits of Mobile Marketing, more groups and individuals from different industries are beginning to incorporate it in their marketing strategies, anticipating interaction from mobile phone users.

We are now living a Wireless- based society where mobile phone is the next big thing. This technology is teaching people to be more demanding as customers, and more effective as businesses.

WHICH STAR ARE YOU FROM?

Believe it or not, in the midst of modern technology, Astrology still exists and continues to influence the human race in so many ways.

Astrology is said to be the “Mother of all Sciences”. It falls under metaphysics, which is the defined as the branch of philosophy that examines the true nature of reality. It includes the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attributer, and fact and value- somewhere between or maybe the combination of spirituality and religion.

In an article written by Molly Hall, she mentioned, ” Astrology is the study of patterns and relationships — of planets in motion, our birth chart, synastry with others, the make-up of elements — and using that knowledge as a tool to find meaning.”

So, how do you know your Zodiac sign? Zodiac sign depends on the person’s date of birth: Aries for March 21- April 19; Taurus for April 20- May 20; Gemini for May 21 - June 20; Cancer for June 21 - July 22; Leo for July 23 - August 22; Virgo for August 23 - September 22; Libra for September 23 - October 22; Scorpio for October 23 - November 21; Sagittarius for November 22 - December 21; Capricorn for December 22 - January 19; Aquarius for January 20 - February 18; and Pisces for February 19 - March 20 birthday celebrants.

Now that you know which star you’re from, why not put the stars in your mobile phones and be the superstar among friends! You can do this by making your zodiac sign as mobile wallpaper. There are tons of mobile content providers offering mobile wallpaper downloads. Simply go to their off-deck portals, get monthly subscriptions, download and… basically that’s it!

Through mobile marketing solution, combining the ideas of astrology and technology is just a mobile subscription away.

MOBILE MUSIC MARKET

January 14th, 2008 Comments(0)

Mobile music is the most promising segment of the entire music industry today. Its share on the total worldwide music revenue increases every year, and is still expected to perform better until 2010.

www.emarketer.com  reveals that from 2007’s $2,076,000,000 mobile music revenue, it is expected to boost up to $3,909,000,000 on 2008. That is almost 5% increase in revenue share. From 6.5% share on total worldwide music revenue for 2007, it is expected to increase to 12% by 2008.

There are lots of factors that contributed to this phenomenal demand for mobile music.
First, there are the stakeholders. These are the internet providers, the mobile content providers, the artists and their record labels and of course, the mobile music subscribers who never get tired of downloading their favorite real tone and polyphonic ringtones. Second, the mobile subscribers’ download behavior. Right now, mobile content providers are experimenting on different marketing strategies that will complement their subscription behavior and think of tactics on how they can take advantage of it. This leads us to the third aspect, content providers’ PR and advertising campaigns. Content providers continuously fight over subscribers’ attention through different marketing tools- from old school print media, radio commercials, to today’s new age online blogs and forum.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the subscribers’ preference. They know what they need, and they want to make the most out of the money they spent for downloading real tone ringtones, polyphonic ringtones, and wallpapers.

Mobile is the most promising marketing tool for all marketers from different industries. With the influence and impact of mobile marketing, it is said to be the next best thing to replace traditional tools.

I must agree with what Julie Katz had mentioned in her blog, that wireless technology has the promise to be the ultimate one to one marketing tool, as it is personal and measurable.

That is why music icons and personalities got themselves into mobile marketing. Record labels, handlers and artists themselves acknowledge the big opportunity of getting in touch with their fans through the use of mobile technology.

Now, fans of Britney Spears can download and listen to her latest songs whenever, wherever they want. Groupies of Greenday, Nickelback and Fall Out Boy can download their album covers as wallpaper any time they want.

Embracing the growing demand for these music artists’ masterpieces, RingtoneDeck made sure that downloading mobile content like ring tones and wallpapers will be as easy as 1-2-3. Fans and followers can now purchase or subscribe to their favorite music artist’s songs by simply visiting our website and providing us their mobile number.
